So hungry...

Today's song is the Editors - Eat Raw Meat = Blood Drool. A morbid name for a morbid song. The video is amazingly creepy. This song comes off their 2009 album In This Light and On This Evening which is their 3rd release. This album is much more heavily synthesized but keeps the same Editors' sound. If you love the Editors this album is probably their best to date. Personally I think 9 songs is a few too many to listen to. Other notable songs on the album include Papillon & The Big Exit.

There's hunger at the door

Sorry for the lapse in awesomeness, I will attempt to update more frequently. Today's song is Hunger at the Door by the Belgian band Balthazar. This band released their first album Applause in March 2010 but has been playing shows all over Europe for many years. This album is an easy listen from start to finish, impressing me more after each track. The first single on the album is Fifteen Floors but they are worth a listen. I would compare them to a slower Arctic Monkeys with a touch of Gorillaz. How can that be bad? On a side note, good luck finding the a place to buy the album in the US.

Today's song is Broken Social Scene - Sweetest Kill. This song comes off their 2010 release Forgiveness Rock Record. This is the first album they have released in 5 years (aside from the band member's many side projects. If you are a broken social scene fan you will undoubtedly enjoy this release. The overall feel of the album is moving on to a new more mature band and music. Other honorable mentions from the album are the opener World Sick & Forced to Love. For new broken social scene listeners, definitely check out their 2005 self titled release, I appreciate their newer songs more having heard their earlier albums.

I'm still an animal

Today's song is a remix of Miike Snow - Animal. This song comes off the 2009 self titled album which is a strong collaboration of ear friendly light electro-pop. The album has inspired many of today's top artists tp remix and put their own flavor on the already strong release. This is one of my favorite remixes but be sure there are many other noteworthy artists (Pete Bjorn & John, Mark Ronson to name a couple) remixing the rest of the album. If you like this track check out the original and the rest of the album.

Today's song is The Futureheads - Struck Dumb off their 2010 album The Chaos. With a british sound similar to that of the Kaiser Chiefs, Maximo Park, British Sea Power they hit a home run with this release. The Chaos doesnt depart from the post-punk sound they are known for but it still works. Although not particularly popular in the US, they are currently on the middle of a US tour. If you get the chance to check them out, it looks like they are playing some pretty cool venues.

Cover me baby

Today's song is Nada Surf - Enjoy the Silence. This song comes off their 2010 album "If I had a Hi-fi" which is a cover album. I usually detest cover albums; if it was done right the first time why try and repeat it if not to sell records? This album takes 12 awesome songs from the last 30 years and spins Nada's Surf's style into a powerful collection of songs that only vaguely resemble the originals. If you have any qualms about cover albums, listen to this one from start to finish. Any of the bands covered should be grateful of their interpretation as it sounds more like an homage than an attempt to sell records.

Today's song comes from Danish band Kashmir entitled Kalifornia. This song opens up their 2005 release No Balance Palace and sets a great tone for the rest of the album. Although the band has won many awards in Denmark, they have had little exposure in the US. Interesting fact, Kashmir originally had the name Nirvana when they formed in 1991 but changed it soon after the american band gained popularity. Their 2010 album Trespassers has made it to the top of the Danish charts. Let's see if it picks up any steam over the pond.
